Walt Disney World has today announced its plans to begin a phased reopening on July 11th according to a presentation the company made on Wednesday.
Disney’s theme parks have been closed since March 15th because of the COVID-19 pandemic and its planned reopening will follow Universal Orlando which is set to reopen on June 5th.
Jim McPhee, senior vice president of operations for Walt Disney World stated that the company plans a phased reopening of the park, with both Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom opening on July 11th and both Epcot and Hollywood Studios reopening on July 15th.
Similarly to Universal and other parks, Disney World visitors will undergo a temperature check and be required to wear a face mask in the parks with the park providing masks to visitors who do not bring their own.
Social distancing markers will be visible throughout the park with Disney’s “social distancing squad” of cast members enforcing the rules. Park capacity will also be limited and not every attraction will be open straight away.
